Does Verizon Still Offer Email Services?
No. Verizon, a renown provider for mobile and home internet solutions, stopped it's email services in 2015. Existing @verizon.net email accounts were moved over to AOL and signup for new accounts is no longer possible. As the company states, there are more capable email platforms available nowadays, which is the main reason for the decision to leave the email business.
Can I still use my Verizon email address?
Of course! Existing users can still use their @verizon.net email address. The mailboxes and email servers are now mainly managed by AOL, giving existing Verizon email users the possibility to rely on a secure and renown email provider.

POP3 or IMAP: What should I use for my Verizon email?
When adding your Verizon email address to your email program, the software will ask you if you wish to add your address by using the IMAP or POP protocol. So you might wonder: What's the difference?
With IMAP, any changes made to your emails (reading or deleting emails…) are synchronized across all devices, e.g. your email client on your computer and on your phone. POP reflects these changes only on the device were you made the changes. So if you marked an email as read on your computer, the email will be marked as read as well on your phone if you use IMAP, but will appear as "new" on the smart phone when using POP3.
For most users, IMAP is preferable instead of POP since it allows to access the same email on multiple devices. However, if you need to save storage space, POP is the preferable option (as it downloads the email to the device, freeing up storage capacity on your mailbox). But be aware: If no copy of your email is left on the server and you lose the device you downloaded your POP configured email to, the email will be lost if you do not have a separate backup!
